Born May 7, 1981 in Opelika, Alabama, Marquez Hughley, is a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving almost 6 years as a Paralegal Specialist, including a deployment to Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003. He attained the military rank of Sergeant (E-5) before his honorable exit in 2005. He is an author (under the name M.D. Hughley), licensed Christian minister, Morehouse College student, entrepreneur, and motivational speaker (Crown Life Seminars - Theme: "C.R.O.W.N. Life"). Marquez Hughley earned a B.A. in Theology from Minnesota Graduate School of Theology, and is currently pursuing a second B.A. (in Business Administration-Finance) at Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia. His future education aspirations are to earn a MBA and a Ph. D in Theology as well. Marquez Hughley was given a God-inspired vision to start his own Men's Business Professional / Casual wear clothing line. He has always been a necktie connoisseur since the time when he began to buy this type of clothing in 2000, having received many compliments of his taste and keen eye for quality neckties, which were shown through his own purchases. One of his statements concerning neckties is the following: "I believe that your tie says it all. You can have an average-looking suit on, but have an exceptional-looking necktie and still look like a million dollars! The necktie can set the tone for your whole attire." Marquez then began diligently designing the logo and 10 different necktie styles in various colors, of which he has entitled this first series as "Gigaré 1": (1) The Diplomat, (2) Elite, (3) Regal, (4) Class, (5) Jazz, (6) Esquire, (7) Excellence, (8) Marquee, (9) Grandeur, and (10) Timeless. The actual name "Gigaré" came to Marquez while he was reading his Physical Science textbook from college. As he read, he came upon the measurement prefix "giga", which means "billion". He then added the preposition form of the word "re", which means "with regard to" to the end of "giga". One of the definitions of the word "regard" means "the worth or estimation of which something or someone is held". Since a preposition is a word that shows the relation, "Giga" and "re" together simply means, "A billion, as pertaining to the worth". He then changed the letter "e" for the letter "é " to change the pronunciation to \ ji-'gar-rā \ and added the slogan "A King's Collection". His acclaimed statement concerning Gigaré is this:
"I am not burdened with the task of trying to keep Gigaré moving in terms of the latest fashion or product. You see, I'm not a fashion designer. I'm a man who knows what his individual assignment is in life. I'm simply endeavoring to establish Gigaré as a "paragon and precedent" in the world by inducing a particular mindset and perspective of one's own self-image and worth."
